I’m constantly asked about how I got into this industry and what tips I’d give people to get their foot in the door. This is how I did it so I hope it might give someone some ideas on where they can start!

If you’re looking more for advice on how to get into doing makeup for social media, I have a five-video series detailing a lot of stuff to help with that here!

  1. Mykie you are so incredibly inspiring. When I was little I thought I’d be an animator at a photographer, but in ( what I believe was 2013) I discovered one of your videos. And a part of me was kinda like wHat? I can do that? Finding you has helped me discover a passion that I didn’t know I could have. You, Mykie. In a certain way. Have made my future bright. And possible. I’ve grown so much as an artist and a person thanks to you. And I’d love to create a monster with you one day.(that sounded a bit weird but whatever. Ima bit weird so it’s fitting ¯_(ツ)_/¯) LOVE YA BOO

  2. I just graduated high school and I’ve been doing SFX since I was 13. I was planning on going to M.U.D. & I honestly love SFX makeup. I was planning on going to school for it to get a license but being 9,000 short I couldn’t. I want to pursue that carrier still because it’s what I know and love the most but since everyone wants to do it now It makes me not want to. Like I loved the aspect of it because it was a carrier no one really knew about it, but idk. I’m just confused on what to do at the moment. Enough about me I’m proud of how far you came🖤 you are a hard worker and I’m inspiration to others keep it up 🖤🖤

  3. I remember starting to watch your videos three years ago and can say that last years your the reason I took up SFX makeup and haven't looked back since, you are honestly such an inspiration

  4. OMG MYKIE I WORK AT A MACYS AND ITS MY FIRST SKINCARE/MAKEUP CAREER THING. I WORK AT AN ORIGINS COUNTER SO I CANT BE AS CREATIVE WITH MY MAKEUP AS I WOULD LIKE TO BE BUT HEY THATS WHAT WEEKENDS ARE FOR AMIRIGHT.

  5. I think i actually Wanted to do makeup after I watched a few of your videos. And that was YEARS AGO. And now I just graduated makeup class! You gave me lots of inspiration! So thank you so much for being you! 💙💙💙

  6. I’ve taken risks with FX makeup and I’ve had ppl ask me to do Halloween makeup and I took that chance to try my skills that I got from you on other ppl. Definitely learned to have more confidence in what I did. Thank you.

  7. You very directly impacted my makeup career. I won your 400k giveaway contest on Instagram almost 3 years ago, at a point where I was struggling to continue with my work, but winning has drastically impacted my career, and now with only a few months of high school left I may be working full time at a local makeup shop for the summer, and then I will moving out to the Vancouver area to expand my horizons and grow as an artist. Thank you Mykie

  8. I'm studying Style as my collage curriculum and I took it because I want to be a mua and one of the reasons of that is, well… you mykie! My dream is to work as a mua for movies/TV shows etc… I wanna do fxs and pretty makeup for actors and stuff like that

  9. Firstly, OMG congrats on getting in the magazine, that’s a huge achievement and you deserve it.
I started watching your Channel when I was looking how to do bruising for a cosplay I was making, I loved sfx but I convinced myself I couldn’t do it or it was so hard. By watching your videos my skills have grown so much that i actually get compliments on it. I just wanted to say thank you for doing what you do, even though it definitely didn’t sound easy your story is amazing and you’ve achieved so much.
Especially being a Saw nurse that shit was beautiful
Ps. Watching your videos about your hair and with Guy, really got me past the nerves of shaving the side of my own head after wanting it for 7 years, thank you for being so inspirational

  10. See this is my problem and you actually did mention it. Social media really increased the interest in makeup and beauty and everything of the sort. It feels like not special anymore and it really discourages me to pursue my dream of becoming a makeup artist and work on celebrities or models or whatever. Just really high up lmao big dreams. Anyways I have a real passion for makeup and I’ve had for about 7 or 8 years. I don’t know what to do 😣😣
